We can only imagine how stressful the run up to the Academy Awards is for the nominees, presenters and attendees but this year, to help keep the stars calm help was at hand as a host of CBD products made their debut in gift lounges and bags.

As well as its ability to help manage anxiety, CBD or cannabidiol is well known for its anti-inflammatory so celebs weren’t just using it to keep those pre-ceremony nerves at bay but as a balm for their feet. Mandy Moore and Michelle Williams apply CBD cream on their feet, ankles and calves 30 minutes prior to wearing heels and stylist Kate Young, whose clients include Rachel Weisz, Margot Robbie and Selena Gomez told The Hollywood Reporter that she uses a cannabis numbing cream on actors’ feet ‘so that heels hurt less’.

Just as we were all getting over our excitement at the fabulousness of the Duchess of Sussex’s baby shower, along comes Kim Kardashian West with her ‘CBD & Mediation’ baby shower. Kim Kardashian hasn’t been shy in confessing her love for all things CBD so it’s no surprise that she incorporated it into her baby shower. She told E! News that she wanted to help calm her stress with a zen-like baby shower. Famous friends and family who celebrated the impending birth of her fourth child with her - obviously that was then, and she’s now the proud mum of a baby son Psalm - were treated to a range of CBD infused massages, goodies and had the chance to make their own products. As if that all wasn’t enough they were given their very own pair of Yeezy slides. Jealous. Us. Not.

Kardashian West isn’t the only Hollywood celeb to embrace the benefits of CBD, it’s rapidly becoming the must have supplement to help manage a range of conditions including anxiety and stress as well as pain.

Jennifer Aniston told US Weekly that she uses CBD to help with pain, stress and anxiety, viewing it as a practical, high-free substitute for marijuana.

Actresses Olivia Wilde incorporated the CBD Pain and Wellness Body Lotion by LA based brand Lord Jones into her skin care routine to help her relax whilst she was doing a six month run in a Broadway play and told The New York Times ‘my body was wrecked - my neck was really tight. The CBD has relaxing benefits, and the idea is to avoid using too many painkillers’.

Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio has said that she uses CBD oil to help her get eight hours sleep the night before the big show.

Michael J. Fox who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 29 has spoken of using CBD oil to help manage the side effects of the disease. He has said, ‘If there is anything working with CBD Oil has shown me, it’s that there is always hope. Even for the hopeless."

If there’s one celeb who helped catapult CBD into the mainstream, it’s Gwyneth Paltrow who has long championed the benefits of CBD on her celebrated lifestyle site, Goop, and included a ‘Future of Cannabis’ section at her 2018 LA conference ‘In Goop Health’. She also features some amazing CBD infused cocktails on the Goop website.

On the surface, Martha Stewart’s endorsement of all things CBD would seem unlikely but factor in her long standing friendship with that well known cannabis aficionado Snoop Dogg and perhaps it’s not so surprising after all. With Snoop having already launched his own line of cannabis products, Martha won’t be far behind because she’s joined forces joined forces with leading Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth to act in an advisory role to help the company develop a new line of hemp-derived CBD products for both humans and pets. 

In a statement, Stewart said “I am delighted to establish this partnership with Canopy Growth and share with them the knowledge I have gained after years of experience in the subject of living,” said Martha Stewart. “I’m especially looking forward to our first collaboration together, which will offer sensible products for people’s beloved pets.” For their part Canopy Growth said they would be ‘leaning on Martha’s vast knowledge of consumer products while exploring the effectiveness of CBD and other cannabinoids as they relate to improving the lives of both humans and animals.’
