CBD lubricants to put the spark back in the bedroom

Whilst lubricants have long been used to enhance sexual enjoyment, CBD lubricants are now making their presence felt as an added way to enhance and boost intimacy.

It’s a fact that at some point or other, most of us have or will experience problems in the bedroom. Those problems could be down to performance issues, anxiety or that sex is just too painful.

Sex should be fun, exciting and bring us closer so problems, whether they involve one half of a couple or both, will invariably begin to put a strain on relationships and let’s face it, no one wants to start dreading the prospect of a romantic night in.

With CBD’s ability to help manage pain, decrease inflammation and increase blood flow and muscle relaxation, its inclusion can help boost the effect of using a lubricant. That’s because it’s absorbed into the Endocannabinoid receptors which are found in the genital areas of both males and females.

The resulting increase in blood flow also increases sensation which in turn increases sensitivity, so working together these things can help to make sex more pleasurable, heighten orgasms and create that all-important sense of calm and relaxation.

Putting the fun back into sex

We’re not the only ones to be taking note of CBD and sexual wellness as the choice of products is continuing to grow with lubricants, massage oils, chocolates and bath salts being just a few of the offerings coming to market.

Even Playboy, and you wonder why it took them so long, has recently launched their first line of CBD sexual wellness products – ‘Pleasure for all’ by Playboy which includes an arousal spray, bath bomb and intimacy warming gel.

To increase the appeal and create a separate identity from the main brand, they’ve created a dedicated portal to house the Pleasure range where you’ll find the products and educational articles on all things, sex, pleasure, wellness and CBD. Surprisingly, it’s all very tasteful.

Hard to believe but not everyone has followed Playboy and adopted a less is more approach to naming with some brands really going to town.

In the States, there’s the Love Moan range of water-based lubricants offering the choice of a ‘loud moan’, ‘yes moan’ and ‘love moan’.

Then there’s the Yes, Yes, Yes Healing Lube by Spiritual Herbal Remedies and Jack Knob Polish which as the name suggests, is one for the men.

Now we know it’s childish but can you imagine what the naming workshops for these products must have been like! Joking aside, in their own way the names of these products should help you and your partner relax because if you’re busy laughing, you’ve got a lot less time to get stressed.

What to look out for when buying lubricants

Now that we’ve stopped laughing, on a more serious note there are a growing number of CBD Lubricants out there just waiting to be tried, but as with anything, make sure you do the right checks before buying.

To help, we’ve added a checklist of the main things to consider along with a selection of some of the best CBD sexual wellness products available to buy.

  • If you’re using a condom, check to see if the lubricant is compatible with condoms. Water-based lubricants will be best as they won’t cause the latex to break down.
  • Give the lubricant time to work so use 15-20 minutes before you have sex and wait until you start to feel the effect.
  • Look at the ingredients before you buy to ensure the lubricant doesn’t contain anything that could cause irritation and upset the PH balance of the vagina, so that’s things like nasty chemicals, alcohol and glycerin.
  • If it’s your first time using a lubricant, take things slowly at first and see how you get on.
