Hary reviews the Grass & Co CALM CBD oil and bath salts

This month, we asked our reviewer Hary Kyriacou to test the Grass & Co CBD Calm CBD oil and the CALM Bath Salts to see if they could help improve the quality of her sleep which is often interrupted due to anxiety.

Grass & Co produce award-winning CBD products that have long been on our list of favourites – we’re tried all their products and their EASE range is a firm favourite when we need to soothe tired muscles. As well as the CALM collection, the range also includes REST to help manage feelings of tiredness and fatigue.

Each range includes CBD oils, balms, pillow spray and a non-CBD candle and bath salts blended with Ashwagandha and Chamomile with Vitamins B6 and B12 which support psychological function and mental performance.

For the CBD products, the botanicals are blended with MCT oil which helps to enhance the CBD absorption. All are blended with botanicals and vitamins that contribute to a greater sense of wellness.

Whilst the Grass & Co Bath Salts don’t contain CBD, they do contain a soothing blend of Himalayan Pink Salts together with botanicals including Evening Primrose, Rosemary and Marula.

Marula is an oil that is rich in protein so makes a brilliant skin and hair treatment and the combination of the salts and aromatherapy blends all help to calm the body and mind.

Hary’s honest review

The Grass & Co CBD CALM Oil and CALM Bath Salts

I’ve always had trouble with anxiety which means that I find it difficult to switch off which causes problems with sleeping. Over time, my sleeping issues kept getting worse and a night with little to no sleep just left me feeling groggy and irritable the next morning. Rather than relying on sleeping pills, I wanted to try a remedy that could help naturally.

I had read about CBD oil but I was a bit apprehensive because it immediately made me think of cannabis. I had a lot of questions in my head but the more I read up on it the more I realised that as long as I chose a good product I would be fine.

There were a few CBD products that caught my eye but in the end, I decided to try the Grass & Co CALM CBD oil and even though their CALM bath salts don’t contain CBD I still thought they would be a good choice to help with relaxation before going to bed.

The Grass & Co CALM CBD Oil

After spending a large part of my career working in creative production, I always notice product packaging so I was immediately drawn to the clean, understated and premium looking packaging of the Grass & Co products.

Having never tried CBD oil, I decided on a 500mg bottle of Grass & Co CALM CBD oil. The oil also comes with 1000mg of CBD but I wanted to start off with the lowest amount to see how I got on.

Friends who have taken CBD warned me that some can taste quite ‘earthy’ so I was a bit nervous about what it would taste like but I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not going to lie and say it was delicious but it was definitely bearable and I could detect a hint of the peppermint oil too.

I have to admit that I initially misread the instructions and started by taking 4 full droppers each night which was way over the Grass & Co recommendation of one or two doses. Not surprisingly, I was waking off feeling even worse than before.

It was only when I re-read the instructions that I reduced the amount to the correct dosage. After this, I noticed a definite improvement. I was sleeping better and didn’t wake up feeling that I hadn’t slept at all.

What’s interesting is that now I don’t take it every night, just when I need some extra help sleeping and I find that it works just as well. I also take a couple of drops when I’m feeling a bit anxious and I do feel that it helps to calm me down.

All in all, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the effect the CBD oil has had on my ability to get to sleep at night, and with my stress so this is something that I will definitely be buying again. Next time I may try the REST CBD oil as I quite like the sound of that one!

Grass & Co CALM Bath Salts

I love a good bath so I was really looking forward to using the Grass & Co CALM bath salts. As soon as I opened it, there was a very strong smell of Rosemary which is one of the main ingredients.

Like most bath salts, you just drop a handful into the bath as it’s running. The first thing I noticed was that the Rosemary smell was even stronger when mixed with the heat of the water and I found it quite overpowering.

The salts themselves dispersed really well and I have to admit that the Rosemary smell did settle so it wasn’t as overbearing as at first. I soaked in the bath for a good 15 minutes and I did feel more relaxed and slightly rejuvenated when I got out so in that sense the salts did their job.

Hary’s verdict

I loved the Grass & Co CALM CBD oil and will definitely continue to use it as a little helper when I struggling to sleep or feeling anxious. I didn’t have the same overall feeling with the Grass & Co CALM bath salts so I wouldn’t buy them again.

That’s not to say that Grass & Co bath salts will disappear from our house forever as my husband who is a stonemason decided to use them one night and loved them. So if I don’t buy them again, he just might!
